Developers from the western zone brainstorm ideas at a forum in Bobo-Dioulasso

The Environmental Intervention Fund (FIE) is organizing, on November 7 and 8, 2025, in Bobo Dioulasso, the forum for promoters of the Western zone, as part of its call for projects No. 4.
During this forum, strategic tools for the operation of the FIE are presented to promoters in the Western FIE zone. These include, among others, the "promoter's manual"; FIE governance documents on the fight against corruption, money laundering, the grievance management mechanism, environmental and social safeguards, etc.;
The forum also serves as a platform to facilitate exchanges between project promoters, enabling them to share experiences, capitalize on best practices, and provide advisory support. The work takes place in plenary sessions with all project promoters and the regional branch of the FIE West, with the participation of FIE technical departments. The various presentations are followed by discussions on both the content and format of each document.
It should be noted that the fourth (4th ) call for projects of the Environmental Intervention Fund (FIE) on the issue of plastic pollution was launched on December 18, 2023. At the end of the selection process, 17 promoters, including five (5) in the FIE West region covering the administrative regions of Guiriko , Tannounyan and Djôrô, were selected for the implementation of projects on the 2 sub-components of the call, namely " Production of alternative packaging to plastic " and " Collection, treatment and recovery of plastic waste " .

These project leaders have varying levels of experience and knowledge on the issues at hand. The regular monitoring and support provided by the Western regional office allows for an assessment of the implementation of ongoing activities through various indicators , and also provides an opportunity to offer advice and guidance for future activities.
Beyond monitoring, the promoters' forums provide an opportunity for exchanges between these different actors dealing with the issue, but also for sharing various experiences (difficulties, successes, lessons learned, etc.).
Thus, after the Central Zone forum, it is the turn of those in the Western Zone to exchange on their realities in order to give each other ideas for a successful implementation of projects, in order to effectively combat the plastic peril in Burkina Faso.
