THE MINISTER IN CHARGE OF THE ENVIRONMENT, ROGER BARO, MAKES AN ORAL COMMUNICATION ON THE ACCREDITATION OF THE FIE EU AS A NATIONAL ENTITY FOR DIRECT ACCESS TO THE GREEN CLIMATE FUND (GCF)
The Minister of the Environment, Water and Sanitation made a communication to the Council regarding the accreditation of the Environmental Intervention Fund (FIE) as a national entity with direct access to the Green Climate Fund (GCF).
The Environmental Intervention Fund (FIE), a state fund under the technical supervision of the Ministry of the Environment, has been in the process of accrediting itself to the Green Climate Fund as a direct access entity since October 2019.
After completing the necessary steps, the FIE's accreditation to the GCF was officially approved on February 18, 2025, at the 41st session of the GCF Board of Directors, held in Songdo, Republic of South Korea.
This accreditation is an opportunity for Burkina Faso to directly access funding to support climate actions with significant socio-economic and environmental benefits.
The FIE's accreditation to the FVC allows Burkina Faso to mobilize funding in the form of grants of up to 20,000,000,000 CFA francs by 2027 for the implementation of climate change projects and programs.
