THE MINISTRY IN CHARGE OF THE ENVIRONMENT PARTICIPATES IN THE EVENT IN BRAZIL

The Ministry of Environment, Water and Sanitation (MEEA) is participating in the first annual conference of the Integrated Plastics Program (Reboot Plastic), from October 22 to 24, 2025 in Salvador, Brazil.
The conference aims to enable a better understanding of the program's projects implemented in different countries and to facilitate the sharing of experiences between these countries. It is also an opportunity to establish new partnerships for the mobilization of funding and new technologies in the field.
The conference was opened on October 22, 2025, by the authorities of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Brazilian authorities represented by the Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation.
The participation of the MEEA is part of the implementation of the project " Reducing single-use plastic pollution in the agri-food sector ( SUPiFB ) through a circular economy approach in the Kadiogo, Nando and Guiriko regions ". This project is financed by the Global Environment Facility (GEF) to the tune of USD 2,652,294, for a period of five (05) years.
The Department of the Environment is represented at this conference by the General Directorate for Environmental Preservation (DGPE), which is the project implementing agency, and the Environmental Intervention Fund (FIE), which is the executing agency.

The implementation of this project will involve government authorities, the private sector, and civil society organizations. Under the leadership of the Minister of the Environment, the FIE will, for the first time, act as an executing agency for UNEP funding. In this capacity, it will ensure fiduciary management and also provide expertise in implementing the project's economic aspects.
The project is structured around three (03) technical components: strengthening of regulations for the fight against plastic pollution; engagement of stakeholders and promotion of alternatives and reuse.
“A future without plastic pollution is possible.”
