THE THEMATIC COMMITTEE "FOREST - WILDLIFE" EXAMINES ONE HUNDRED AND TWELVE MINUTES

The workshop on the damage caused by certain wild animal species in Burkina Faso, organised by the Environmental Intervention Fund (FIE), ended on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, in Ouagadougou.
Beginning on December 8, 2025, this third and final day of the meeting , themed " Sustainable management of human-wildlife conflicts in Burkina Faso: issues, challenges and perspectives " , was devoted to the work of the FIE's forest/wildlife thematic committee, which is also holding its first ordinary session of 2025.
The agenda for the session focused primarily on the review and validation of the official reports (PV) of the victims of the damage. During this session, one hundred and twelve (112) minutes were examined. Fifty-two (52) minutes were validated, with an amount of 10,152,075 FCFA; forty-eight (48) minutes were validated conditionally, with an amount of 20,568,954 FCFA and eleven minutes were rejected.
The statutory members of the Committee took into account a number of aspects in the examination of the reports. These included verifying the following documents deemed mandatory: the date of establishment of the report; the conformity of the documents constituting the report (original of the requisition, the identity document of the victim); the method of calculating or estimating the damages; compliance with the reporting template, etc.

In addition, the Committee members focused on the following other elements: the identification of the responsible wildlife species; the typology of conflicts and damage caused by human-wildlife conflicts; the location of the damage and the number of victim's PV during the last two years.
Taking these elements into account allowed the members of the Committee to decide on the validity or invalidity of the minutes.
