FIE SUPPORTS THE “SPECIAL GREEN HOTEL PRIZE”

The 6th edition of the National Tourism Entrepreneur Award, organized by the Ministry of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism (MCCAT) was held on the evening of Friday, September 20, 2024, in Ouagadougou. The ceremony was chaired by the Minister of State, Minister of Communication, Culture, Arts and Tourism (MCCAT), government spokesperson, Jean Emmanuel OUEDRAOGO.

On the occasion, the Ministry of Environment, Water and Sanitation (MEEA), through the Environmental Intervention Fund (FIE), took charge of the special green hotel prize. The prize, consisting of a trophy, the sum of one million (1,000,000) FCFA and other gadgets, was won by the Dunia Hotel of Loumbila. The prize was presented to the hotel representative by the Director General of the FIE, Delwendé Davy NANEMA.

 The special award called “Special Green Hotel Award” rewards the tourist company that stands out for the use and implementation of sustainable consumption methods and modes.

The 6th edition of the National Tourism Entrepreneur Award is placed under the theme: " Tourism and cultural diversity, a factor in bringing communities together ". In his speech, the Minister in charge of Culture stressed that the 6th edition of the National Tourism Entrepreneur Award is being held in a context marked by the security crisis. This is why he congratulated all the players in the tourism value chain who have been able to develop resilience actions for the survival of the sector.

Minister OUEDRAOGO also praised the commitment of men and women in favor of tourism, ensuring that the National Tourism Entrepreneur Prize has established itself as a showcase for the players.

This 6th edition of the National Tourism Entrepreneur Prize saw the participation of 230 companies and resulted in 16 trophies, including eight (8) official prizes, four (4) special prizes and four (4) honorary prizes.
