The Minister of the Environment, Water and Sanitation, Roger BARO, gave the go-ahead for the alignment planting work on the bypass road of the city of Ouagadougou, this Tuesday, October 15, 2024, in Koubri.

According to Minister BARO, his department has just launched a green revolution. In the long term, 50,000 plants will be planted along the 120 km of the bypass road that crosses the rural communes of Saaba , Loumbila, Pabré, Tanghin Dassouri , Komsilga and Koubri.

For the success of the initiative, all the departments of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Sanitation (MEEA) are involved in the implementation of the project. Each department or public establishment under the MEEA has a section that it must reforest and ensure the survival of the plants.

As part of the innovations undertaken during the 2024 reforestation campaign, in particular the one street/avenue one alignment planting initiative and in application of the guidelines, reforestation has been initiated along the bypass road along its entire length. The reforestation will consist of setting up two rows of plants on each side of the road at a spacing of 10 meters.

While encouraging the various stakeholders for the success of the project, the Minister of the Environment, Water and Sanitation, Roger BARO, expressed the government's commitment to the implementation of the plantation along the bypass, in order to make it an example.
