THE TECHNICAL COMMITTEE ON A SUPERVISION MISSION IN THE FIELD
LoCAL Facility technical committee is on a mission to supervise the investments of the mechanism, from December 16 to 21, 2024, in the municipalities of Pabré, Loumbila and Saponé. The Environmental Intervention Fund (FIE) is ensuring the implementation of the pilot phase of the Local Climate Adaptive Living Facility ( LoCAL ) Burkina Faso mechanism.
The overall objective of the mission is to coordinate and monitor the implementation of the climate change adaptation financing mechanism ( LoCAL ) in the three pilot municipalities of Loumbila, Pabré and Saponé.
Specifically, the committee members are responsible for supervising LoCAL investments and activities ; supervising technical support work for pilot municipalities; and formulating recommendations to guide the implementation of the mechanism. In its methodological approach, the mission proceeds through field visits and interviews with stakeholders.
As a reminder, the LoCAL Mechanism is a financing mechanism for adaptation to climate change at the local level ( LoCAL ). It aims to promote increased access to climate finance for local authorities in order to implement climate change adaptation investments in participating countries and to ensure the establishment of a standard and internationally recognized national mechanism to channel climate finance and increase local resilience through Performance-Based Climate Resilience Grants.
It should be noted that within the framework of the implementation of the pilot phase of LoCAL facility in the municipalities of Pabré, Loumbila and Saponé, a mission to supervise investments and activities is planned by members of the LoCAL Technical Committee set up by decree n°2022-1368/MEEEA/CAB of July 14, 2022.
