The Environmental Intervention Fund (FIE) is strengthening the capacities of promoters selected under call for projects 4 relating to the fight against plastic waste, from February 3 to 7, 2025, in Ouagadougou. The opening ceremony was chaired by the FIE Director of Operations, Abdoulaye OUEDRAOGO, representing the Director General of the fund.

The promoters concerned by this training are those from the Central, Central-South, North and Central-West regions. The participants are twenty (20) people representing twelve (12) promoters.

The overall objective is to strengthen the capacities of promoters on the project management manual. Specifically, it is about putting promoters at the same level of information on the technical and financial management procedures of projects; the FIE management tools (the reporting framework, etc.); clarify the role of the promoter and the FIE and facilitate the implementation of projects.

Trainers are responsible for explaining the general mechanisms of the FIE applicable to project promoters; describing the main stages of the implementation cycle of a project financed by the FIE; emphasizing the obligations and procedures to be respected in terms of financial and technical management and defining the modalities, tools and reporting models.

It should be noted that as part of the fight against plastic pollution, the Environmental Intervention Fund (FIE) launched its fourth call for projects (AP4) on December 18, 2023. Following this call, 177 bidders' files were received and the final selection made it possible to retain 17 projects for financing.

The baseline situation as well as the review of the logical frameworks and budgets of the 17 promoters were carried out in conjunction with them. Agreements between the FIE and these promoters have been signed and the first tranches of subsidies are currently being transferred to the accounts dedicated to the projects.

Thus, it is to facilitate the implementation of activities that the training of promoters on the project management manual was initiated in order to enable them to equip themselves with the technical and financial procedures of the FIE in terms of project management.

This training comes after the one of the same kind, organized in Bobo-Dioulasso, from January 20 to 24, 2025 and which concerned the promoters of the Cascades and Hauts Bassins regions.
