Dechet 1

On the sidelines of the training of second wave municipal stakeholders on the financial execution manual for Integrated Municipal Development Projects for REDD+ (PDIC/REDD+) organized by the Environmental Intervention Fund (FIE) and the Management Unit of the Sustainable Management of Municipal Landscapes Project for REDD+ (PGPC/REDD+), the Director General of the FIE, Delwendé Davy NANEMA, visited the CHERIFA Association in Bobo-Dioulasso on Monday, March 24, 2025. This organization has made the fight against plastic waste its main focus through the recycling of plastic waste.

The purpose of the visit was, among other things, to learn about the association, its operations, and its working conditions, but above all, to encourage the members for the work they have done in the fight against plastic waste. The FIE's Director General provided advice to the association's members on how to better organize their activities in order to better achieve their objectives.

On site, the association's leaders, headed by the president, Siaka OUATTARA, gave a guided tour to the FIE's Director General, showing them the structure, from sorting plastic waste to processing and obtaining finished products.

According to the promoters of the CHERIFA association, the organization collects ten (10) tons of plastic waste per day and can do even better if it has sufficient financial resources. They thanked the Director General of the FIE for his visit, the encouragement and the advice given to them.

It should be noted that the CHERIFA Association is one of the promoters selected during the FIE's call for projects 4 as part of the fight against plastic waste. Resources will soon be made available to the selected promoters to accelerate the fight against plastic waste in Burkina Faso.
