THE FIE MUTUELLE CONTRIBUTES TO THE GREENING OF BURKINA FASO
The Mutual Fund for Environmental Intervention (MUAFIE) has decided to play its part in the regreening of Burkina Faso. Thus, this Saturday, July 19, 2025, FIE workers, mobilized within MUAFIE and supported by local residents and elements of the General Directorate of Water and Forests (DGEF) proceeded to plant trees in the grove of district No. 6, in front of the FIE headquarters and all around the grove.
In addition to planting trees, the participants maintained the grove by weeding to allow the plants to thrive. Delwendé Davy NANEMA, Director General of the FIE, praised the mobilization of his colleagues, local residents, and the DGEF (Directorate General of the French Agricultural Fund for Food) for their support of the mutual insurance initiative. He emphasized that the goal is to respond to the government's call by making the grove in district 6 a reference point that will allow future generations to discover endangered species.
The grove in district No. 6 of Ouagadougou, developed jointly by the FIE and the town hall, aims to contribute to strengthening plant cover and environmental education; providing ecosystem, social and even economic services.
It also aims to improve the neighborhood's microclimate; mitigate the effects of air pollution; enhance local biodiversity; promote relaxation and development for local residents; and serve as an educational space to raise public awareness of botany and ecology.
In short, the grove development project in district 6 of Ouagadougou aims to improve the living environment of local populations. More than 600 tree seedlings to be combined with a suitable number of shrubs and herbaceous plants will be planted on the land with an area of approximately 2,000 m2 located in the Cissin district .
For the record, in the dynamic of responding to the patriotic call of the Burkinabe Government called "Patriotic Hour to green Faso" on the occasion of National Tree Day (JNA) 2025, the FIE planted, on Saturday, June 21, 2025, three thousand five hundred (3,500) seedlings, in the rural commune of Tanghin-Dassouri, at the level of the Ouagadougou Bypass (VCO).
