The first national workshop for stakeholders in the mobilization of endogenous resources in environmental matters, organised by the Environmental Intervention Fund (FIE), ended on the evening of Thursday, December 4, 2025 in Ouagadougou.

Speaking on behalf of the workshop chairman, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Aboubakar NAKANABO, and the co-chairman, the Minister of Environment, Water and Sanitation, Roger BARO, the Director General of the FIE, Delwendé Davy NANEMA, noted that the meeting, held under the theme " Environmental sovereignty and mobilization of endogenous resources: challenges and opportunities for Burkina Faso ", was a success.

Indeed, for 48 hours, the participants, who are experts in the fields of environment, climate, water, energy, finance, NGOs, banks, civil society, etc., conducted exciting and very high-level debates on the issue of mobilizing endogenous resources in environmental matters.

Thus, the Director General of the FIE maintained that the workshop's objective—to strengthen synergy among stakeholders for greater mobilization of domestic environmental financing to support environmental policies in Burkina Faso—had been achieved. The discussions provided an opportunity to present the various roles of actors involved in mobilizing domestic environmental resources; to analyze existing internal mobilization mechanisms and their limitations; and to identify new, innovative approaches adapted to the Burkinabe context.

The workshop also made it possible to propose concrete actions for increased mobilization of endogenous financing; to produce recommendations, resolutions and an operational roadmap for sustainable financing of environmental actions.

On behalf of the workshop's chair and co-chair, the Director General of the FIE reassured participants that the meeting's results would not be shelved. Indeed, he emphasized, " It is imperative for us to push back the boundaries of financial dependence and build solutions based on our own strengths ."

He reaffirmed the FIE's ambition to institutionalize this event, by organizing it annually, in order to provide a framework for meetings and discussions among state and non-state actors involved in resource mobilization for the environment and climate.

The Director General of the FIE expressed his appreciation to the panelists, moderators, and various speakers for the quality of their contributions. "I thank you for your interest in the noble cause of environmental protection and the building of a green and sustainable economy ," he stated.

He praised the commitment of the private sector, research actors, civil society organizations and community initiatives which reflect the solidarity and resilience of our populations.

" With the conviction that by combining our efforts, we can gradually establish our financial sovereignty in environmental matters and strengthen the sustainability of our actions ," Mr. NANEMA wished the participants a safe journey home, while remaining committed to the cause of the environment.
