THE MINISTER IN CHARGE OF THE ENVIRONMENT INVITES STAKEHOLDERS TO OPT FOR LESS POLLUTING PACKAGING
The third edition of the African Agri-Food Packaging Show (AFOOD-PACK) opened its doors this Friday, October 18, 2024, in Ouagadougou. Sponsored by the Minister of Environment, Water and Sanitation (MEEA), Roger BARO, the show's theme is: " vocational training opportunities in the packaging industry in Burkina Faso ".
According to the general commissioner of AFOOD-PACK 2024, Clovis ILBOUDO, their vision is based on information, training and the search for funding. According to him, AFOOD-PACK 2024 is a privileged framework for exchange between professionals in the agri-food, packaging and environmental sectors.
The show is an opportunity to discover innovations in the sector, exchange with experts and explore training opportunities. The major innovation of this edition is the competition to distinguish the best packaging in the agri-food sector, an opportunity to promote the most innovative products and promote best practices in the field of packaging.
The event's patron, the Minister of Environment, Water and Sanitation, Roger BARO, welcomed and congratulated the organizers for holding the show, which is a major event. He stressed that the theme of this edition is a resounding call in the sense that it is part of the government's vision of banning the use of plastic bags.
Minister BARO stressed that packaging plays an important role while inviting stakeholders to opt for less polluting packaging to protect the environment. The panels that will be held during the 48 hours of the show will focus, among others, on the following themes: "Packaging and professional training "; " Packaging and the environment "; " Role and contribution of universities in training programs "; " Career paths of packaging professionals and their role in the industry ".
This event, which takes place from October 18 to 19, 2024, in the Ouaga 2000 conference room, is an opportunity for stakeholders to showcase their expertise. The Ministry of the Environment is represented by the Environmental Intervention Fund (FIE) and the General Directorate for Environmental Preservation (DGPE), which co-host a stand on MEEA's actions for alternative solutions to plastic bags.
