A team from the Environmental Intervention Fund (FIE) had a working session with GIZ on the morning of Friday, February 28, 2025, in Ouagadougou.
The meeting was held as part of the stay of a technical support mission for the process of developing the project document and technical annexes of the concept note of the climate resilience project through the protection and rehabilitation of degraded soils and capacity building of local land authorities in rural areas of Burkina Faso. This is a project concept note developed by GIZ in 2021, concurrently with the implementation of the Scientific Support Project for National Adaptation Plan Processes (SAP - PNA).
The concept note received a positive assessment from the Executive Secretariat of the Green Climate Fund on 30 January 2024. The next step is to develop the project document and technical annexes. These annexes include, among others, the environmental and social assessment, the gender action plan, the risk management plan, security issues and the complaints and grievances management mechanism.
The working session of 28 February 2025 allowed the GIZ team to better present the project to the FIE team. In addition, the FIE made a presentation on its financing mechanism and its experience in monitoring and financial facilitation of projects and programmes.
At the end of the discussions, it emerged that a firm had been recruited to conduct the work of finalizing the documents. This firm will have to work, in concert, with the various stakeholders in Burkina Faso, namely the AND, the FIE, the SP/CNDD, the beneficiaries of the Tuy and Houet provinces, areas targeted for the implementation of the project.
The results of the firm's work are expected by the end of May at the latest, for submission to the next Board of Directors of the Green Climate Fund.
