FIE DIRECTORS VISIT THE SITES OF THREE DEVELOPERS
The administrators of the Environmental Intervention Fund (FIE), headed by the president, Mrs. Wend -La-Mita Brigite Marie Suzanne COMPAORE/YONI, visited the sites of two (2) promoters who benefited from FIE subsidies as part of call 4 intended to combat plastic packaging and bags, in Bobo-Dioulasso.
These are the CHERIFA Association and Burkindi Plastic Industrie (BPI). The administrators also visited the Plastic Waste Treatment and Recovery Center (CTVP) in Bobo Dioulasso, which will be operated by the CHERIFA Association. These organizations have made the fight against plastic waste their main focus, through the collection, treatment, recycling, and recovery of plastic waste.
The objective of these visits, according to the President of the Board of Directors (PCA) of the FIE, is, among other things, to discover the sites of these structures, their operation and the working conditions, but above all to encourage the actors for the work carried out in the fight against plastic waste.
The administrators asked questions to the promoters in order to understand their structure, the number of tons of plastic waste eliminated, their contribution to the fight against unemployment and provided advice to the actors for a better organization of their activities in order to better achieve the objectives.
On site, the leaders of the CHERIFA Association, headed by President Siaka OUATTARA, gave a guided tour to the FIE Board of Directors, introducing the structure, from sorting plastic waste to processing and obtaining finished products. The same was true for the head of BPI, Victor KABRE, who showed the various links in his structure to the FIE directors.
According to the promoters of the CHERIFA Association, the organization collects ten (10) tons of plastic waste per day and can do even better if it has sufficient financial resources.
The managers of the visited promoters thanked the FIE Board of Directors for the visit, the encouragement and the advice given to them while promising not to disappoint in terms of the objectives to be achieved through the funding received.
It should be noted that these visits took place on the sidelines of the training of FIE administrators on plastic waste management with the theme "understanding the issues and national policy in plastic waste management: policies, regulations, technologies and alternatives" and the extraordinary Board of Directors of the FIE, held on September 25 and 26, 2025, in Bobo-Dioulasso.
