PRACTICAL WORK ON THE FIE STANDARD MODEL
Capacity building for agents responsible for drawing up reports of damage caused by certain wild animal species in three (3) regions in Manga, organized by the Environmental Intervention Fund (FIE), continues on October 2, 2024.
Today's session began with a presentation and discussions on the techniques for preparing reports according to the FIE standard model and in accordance with the regulatory provisions of Decree No. 2016-111 /PRES/PM/MEEVCC/MATDSI of March 23, 2016 relating to the conditions and procedures for repairing damage.
After this introductory communication, the training of this October 2, 2024 focused on practical cases putting the participants in front of various cases that could arise in the field. For this, the participants were divided into three (3) groups in order to do practical work on the techniques of drawing up minutes according to the standard FIE model.
The first team dealt with two (2) exercises: "speculation: elephant damage to a 2-hectare sorghum field during the growing season. Area destroyed: 0.6 hectares" and "speculation: two goats attacked by a hyena, one of which died and the other lost its left hind leg".
The second team also focused on two exercises: "speculation: buffalo damage to a 2-hectare peanut field. Area destroyed: 0.2 hectares. Flowering stage" and "speculation: a 3- year-old female dog attacked by a crocodile. The dog was carried away by the crocodile."
Finally, the third team 3 dealt with two subjects: " speculation: elephant damage to a mango plantation with eight (8) trees completely destroyed and 14 trees partially destroyed. Fruiting stage" and " speculation: a child attacked by a crocodile in the village pond".
These exercises, supervised by the trainer, Tanga Frédéric YANOGO, Inspector of Water and Forests, allowed participants to better understand how to draw up reports in the event of damage caused by certain species of wild animals.
