FIE AND ANEVE ARE EXCHANGING OVER A STRONG COFFEE
The Director General of the National Agency for Environmental Assessments (ANEVE), Désiré YAMEOGO and his team offered a hot coffee to the Director General of the Environmental Intervention Fund (FIE), Delwendé Davy NANEMA and his colleagues, on the morning of January 8, 2025, in Ouagadougou.
According to the Director General of the FIE, this is a courtesy visit and a collaboration to successfully carry out environmental projects hand in hand to achieve the objectives of the Ministry of the Environment, Water and Sanitation.
At the heart of the discussions over morning coffee, subjects of great importance, namely: the situation of contributions to the Mine Rehabilitation and Closure Fund; resources from fixed and proportional rights on classified establishments; reflections on the operationalization of the compensation and alignment plantation sub-window; environmental and social monitoring and surveillance of projects from call 4 of the FIE on the fight against plastic waste by ANEVE.
On the various issues, the two parties held discussions and made projections for their adequate management. Regarding the mine rehabilitation and closure fund, the discussions focused on the means to be implemented for the proper functioning of the committee in order to examine the reports of the mines; the contribution of the mines to the fund, …
As for the operationalization of the compensation and alignment plantation sub-window, the FIE and ANEVE discussed the strategy to be implemented. It was thus decided to develop a methodological note that will guide the action, as soon as possible, in order to remedy the failures linked to the various compensation plantations following certain projects that impact the environment.
ANEVE has committed, within the framework of an agreement, to monitoring the 17 promoters selected during the FIE call for projects four, for the consideration of environmental issues during their activities.
In a friendly atmosphere, the FIE and ANEVE promised to meet before the end of January, again over coffee, to take stock of the various commitments made.
