The Director General of the Environmental Intervention Fund (FIE), Delwendé Davy NANEMA, assisted by his colleagues, had a working session with a team from the General Directorate for Environmental Preservation (DGPE), led by its Director General, Dramane SAVADOGO, this Thursday, January 9, 2025 in Ouagadougou.

According to the Director General of the FIE, it is fitting that at the beginning of the year, these two structures of the Ministry in charge of the Environment, which collaborate in carrying out activities, consult each other in order to better plan actions. The Director General of Environmental Preservation welcomed the initiative because it allows the two structures to be on the same wavelength.

This meeting firstly allowed the FIE and the DGPE to take stock of the activities to be carried out in 2024, to discuss the difficulties and to outline the prospects for 2025. Thus, the FIE planned to support, among other activities of the DGPE in 2025: the implementation of environmental police operations and control of production units, distribution of plastic and management of plastic waste; the acquisition of personal protective equipment; the acquisition of garbage bins; the implementation of the national strategy for plastic waste management, etc.

The discussions then focused on setting up an appropriate mechanism to ensure that compensation plantations are a success. This could lead to the creation of a counter at the FIE to deal with the problem. A methodological note, which will be followed by a roadmap, is being developed to better guide the action.

It was with satisfaction that the two parties left, promising to meet regularly, to better address the issues that will arise for the two structures.
